1961 Gibson Les-Paul Special
This 1961 Gibson Les Paul Special weighs just 3,27 kg and delivers a strong attack, responsive dynamics and plenty of sustain. The two original P-90s have the punch and bite that make these guitars so effective for rock, while the neck profile sits somewhere between a typical ’59 and ’60 Gibson, with a comfortable playing feel.
The guitar retains its original cherry finish, with visible wood grain and mild checking across the body. The neck shows more playwear, checking and discolouration from use, while the headstock remains well preserved. There has been no refinishing or finish touch-up.
The pickups, potentiometers, wiring, Bumblebee capacitors, tuners, plastics, pickguard and wraparound tailpiece are all original. It has been refretted with wide, low frets reminiscent of Gibson’s “Fretless Wonder” style, with plenty of life remaining. The only reported repair is a plugged hole from a previously fitted strap button on the upper bass-side horn.
Comes with a recent rectangular Les Paul hardshell case.
