1976 Gibson Explorer

The year 1976 marked the return of the Gibson Explorer, seventeen years after the original model had been discontinued in 1959. Finished in Natural, this nice example comes from the limited-edition reissue run and remains in very good condition.

One of the defining features of this version is its substantial 1950s-style neck profile. It feels large and rounded in the hand without being excessively chunky. The guitar is fitted with its two original Gibson “tar-back” humbuckers, which complement the Explorer’s construction particularly well and deliver a powerful, characterful sound.

The guitar has been played and displays the corresponding playwear, small marks and dings. It retains its original components apart from a refret with medium-jumbo 6105 fret wire, providing a more comfortable playing experience.
