1964 Gibson ES-345
For us, 1964 is one of Gibson’s most appealing years. This ES-345 combines a great neck profile, a stop tailpiece and two patent-number humbuckers with the model’s distinctive pairing of gold hardware and a Sunburst finish. A bound rosewood fingerboard with split-parallelogram inlays completes the appointments that set the 345 apart within Gibson’s semi-hollow range.
This example has been fitted with Grover tuners and converted to mono wiring without the Varitone circuit. The result is essentially an ES-335 with ES-345 appointments at a more reasonable price, retaining the familiar layout of two humbuckers with separate volume and tone controls. It has also been refretted and offers excellent playability.
An appealing choice for a player looking for a mid-’60s Gibson thinline with a stop tailpiece and a straightforward setup.
Comes in a Hiscox case.
